How is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Administered?

How can we nourish our cells and tissues with the concentrated oxygen needed to reverse injuries

and improve our health?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is the answer. HBOT is a safe and natural process using the laws of physics and pressurized oxygen to revitalize and regenerate our body’s innate healing system.

Using up-to-date Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Technology, a session in a Hyperbaric Chamber is a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

At Arkansas Hyperbarics Plus, we utilize 34" Sigma Perry Chambers where you can comfortably recline and view your surroundings at all times through a clear acrylic tube.

Once in the chamber, you can relax in a comfortable space with pillows and blankets as the atmospheric pressure gently increases.

You will be able to hear and speak with your treatment administrator at any time, as we monitor your entire procedure.

The treatment is completely painless, and your administrator will instruct you how to equalize the pressure sensation in your ears as the session begins. The sensation of pressure is very similar to what is experienced in an airplane while descending. During your treatment, which lasts about one to one and a half hours, you can sleep, watch TV, listen to music, or just relax.

How WILL I LIKELY FEEL AFTER A HYPERBARIC CHAMBER SESSION?

When your session ends and the chamber is gradually depressurized, you will emerge feeling more oxygenated. Some people report feeling more relaxed after the session, while others describe an overall increase in energy and a sense of mental clarity. The healing and repair process has begun, and you will begin to experience more restful sleep, and with continued treatments over a period of time, you will experience rejuvenation and many anti-aging benefits!

How OFTEN SHOULD I GET HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY TREATMENTS?

Your treatment plan will vary according to the type of health issues you are managing. Treatment plans for optimizing surgical outcomes, joint replacement, or enhancing athletic performance may consist of 10-20 sessions; 5-10 prior to the surgery, and 5-10 post-surgery. Sessions can be repeated daily five days a week.

For those looking to address chronic and neurological issues, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme disease, autism, traumatic brain injury, or stroke, a series of 40 sessions may be required. Re-evaluation after the first 40 sessions will be made to assess the progress. Maintenance sessions, depending on the extent and severity of the condition may be needed.

Our staff is trained to determine what frequency and duration would be appropriate for you, based on your particular condition and current health status.

ARE THERE RISKS WITH HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY TREATMENTS?

Generally, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is very safe. Otic barotrauma (ear pain) is a risk due to difficulty equalizing ear pressure and can occur if there is fluid trapped in the ear, but is typically quite temporary and easily controlled. Your treatment administrator will work closely with you to ensure this risk is eliminated, should it occur. Other issues such as myopia (nearsightedness) can occur temporarily after an intensive course of treatment. Some may need their prescription adjusted, but the change is temporary and reverses a few weeks after treatment ends.

Medical clearance may be needed for some conditions, and we will work with your physician to ensure that there are no contraindications and that the appropriate protocol is followed during your course of treatment.
